Some people are said to be born with a silver spoon in their mouth…Jody Stevens, proprietor & cake designer of jodycakes, was born with a wooden spoon!
From an early age, Jody spent her time in the kitchen – cracking eggs, measuring flour and stirring up concoctions with her mother, Sharron, memorizing all of the family’s recipes. After college, Jody went on to serve in the United States Air Force during Desert Storm. Even during her military service, she spent all of her free time creating new recipes as well as adapting her family favorites to make them hers, with a twist. Always encouraged to follow her heart and share her love of food with others, she merged her culinary talent and her desire to bring the world her new venture, jodycakes!!
Hailing from Denver, Jody began her business in the Los Angeles area in 2006, where she honed her Vegan, Gluten-Free, and Organic baking skills based on a very tough market. She has returned to Texas in 2008, bringing a creative and fresh approach to the custom cake and cupcake market in Houston. Her passion for food & cooking has led her around the world. She will tickle your taste buds with hot chilis and decadent dark chocolates from Central & South America, and entice you with exotic spices such as cardamom and cinnamon from the Far East. While vanilla and chocolate are always in fashion, her red velvet cake inspired by the good ol’ South is sure to leave a lasting impression. JodyCakes made a vegan smash cake for my nephew’s first birthday. He is allergic to diary so a vegan cake was perfect. The cake was decorated absolutely precious and my nephew thoroughly enjoyed smashing and eating the cake!
